Punt e Mes is an all-Italian vermouth created in Turin in 1870, now owned by the Campari Group.
Its amaranth color and the slightly bitter taste deriving from the use of china make it a great icon of the aperitif moment in the world. The name derives from the Piedmontese 'n pont e mes, which literally means "a point and a half" and stands for a sweet and a half bitter point. It is said that on April 19, 1870 in Turin, in the Carpano shop, a stockbroker, at the bartender's request on which drink he wanted, had answered, thoughtlessly for the variation in the value in points of a security, 'n punt e mes, or a correct vermouth with half ink.
